What It Takes To Be Happy: Crafting Your Vision

When you look into your future, what do you see for the short-term and beyond? How do you feel about what you see? Do you like what you see; does it make you happy?

Do you have a clear picture of what you want, where you are going and why what you want is important to you?

Each one of us has a vision for our life; the question is this: Is you vision about what you want or is it filled with thoughts and images of what you fear your future will be like? Is your vision (what you see when you think about your future, whether it’s tomorrow or five years from now) positive or negative? Whatever your vision is, that’s what you will expect to get. When you expect something (good or bad) you give your energy to it and that gives life to it.

If we want to be happier, it makes sense we have to have something to be happy about, even if it’s mainly the vision we have of a better tomorrow. And yes, we can be happy we are alive or happy and grateful for what we have now and who we are now; but let’s be honest…at some point, we need to be able to plan and look forward to what is coming next. Being present in the moment is talked about a lot these days and for good reasons, but that can include being present in the moment when crafting or thinking about our vision for the future.

Happy people have something to get out of bed for; something to look forward to. They are clear on what who they want to be, where they want to go and what they want in their life. They can see it, feel it, taste it and smell it. It’s real to them even before they have it.Thinking about their future, (even the future an hour away) playing a movie of it in their mind makes them feel good.

That is how important vision is when it comes to happiness. We need to know what we want and believe we can manifest it. It makes us happy.

Think about it this way: If an unemployed person believes they will get the job they love at some point, they’re going to be feeling pretty good. They expect to be getting a great job offer and they imagine doing what they’re good at and love to do. They envision what they want and can see it happening. They feel happy.

On the other hand, if they don’t believe they will be getting a job they love (or maybe any job) in the foreseeable future, how are they going to feel? Not good probably, and the more they feel “not good,” the easier it is for them to continue envisioning being unemployed.

Or what if we are in the mode of just getting by, getting through the day, (surviving, so to speak), how happy are we going to be?

So, the question is: How clear is your vision for your life? If you make a mental movie of what you expect in the near and distant future, is it an incredible movie or not?

* Do you see yourself continually growing, living from faith and positive expectation, abundance and love for yourself and others?

* Do you see yourself doing what you love and being well paid for it?

* Do you see yourself surrounded by those who love and support you while you love and support them?

* Do you see yourself becoming healthier, wiser and bolder as you continue your journey in life?

When you think about these things, do you feel happy, energized, motivated, inspired and fulfilled?

If not, you might want to craft a vision for your life that will be so compelling and magnetic, it pulls you towards what you want. Then, you will be in the mental, emotional and spiritual states that will magnetically draw what you see, feel, think and imagine towards you.

To accomplish this, consider writing out your vision. Do a rough draft at first; write fast and let your subconscious reveal what you want your life to be like. Don’t edit anything along the way, just get it down on paper. Suspend your judgement about what is possible, reasonable or “right.” Just let it flow onto the paper. Discover or rediscover what you want first, then you can give more thought as to how important it is for you. For instance, if your subconscious reveals you want a helicopter, write that down without judgement. If your subconscious says you want to be a rock star, write it down! These are important clues for your conscious mind.

This isn’t the time to wonder about how you will bring a specific desire into your reality; it’s a time to listen to your subconscious mind.

Well, that’s enough for now. The question is, what are you willing to do to create a life transforming vision for yourself. Do you believe you are worth the time and effort?

I’m here for you and if I can help in any way, I will. Why not post a question or comment? If you want, give me a call or email me and I’ll help you get started in creating a soul stirring vision.

It’s not the total answer to happiness, but it’s the fuel that will lift your spirit, give direction and meaning to your life and leave you grinning from ear to ear.
