The Bigger Picture
Let's face it...what you really want to know about Alan is whether or not he can significantly help you or your organization. Fair enough.
With that in mind...
Executives and managers need their people to take responsibility for their own success...and to add value to the team.
That's what exemplars do; they set the pace and consistently make great things happen. Often, they are called "high performers."
Now, it is easy to see the stellar performance of an individual or a team.
What is not readily transparent is what's behind that performance:
- Personal Belief Systems (conscious and unconscious)
- Emotional Capital (managing emotions)
- Behavioral Patterns (particularly when under stress)
And that's where Alan comes in.
He applies his 17 years of expertise in behavior change and organizational dynamics to help individuals and teams improve their behaviors and beliefs... and manage their emotions for exceptional results.
He is able to address and resolve "personal issues" that impede performance and results on the personal and organizational levels. He can clearly articulate what sets top performers apart...and how to acquire their mindset and behaviors.
Keynotes can address these matters and give direction and advice, while coaching provides the tools and strategies for deeper change and improvement.
Alan is that rare speaker and coach because few speakers are effective coaches, and few coaches are effective speakers. Alan is accomplished on both fronts, giving you the total package.
A Unique Combination of Business Acumen and Clinical Experience...
Early in his career, Alan was a sales professional with Motorola and Northwestern Mutual. He made use of the sales training they gave him, but the most important thing he did was to take responsibility for his own success. He has never forgotten what the world of sales taught him: "You either perform or you won't be here long."
That is where Alan is coming from when he delivers a keynote, a breakout session or coaching. "Inspiration" or "motivation" is one thing. Behavior change and ongoing results are something else. The former might feel good in the short term; the latter delivers the goods now and later.
Alan graduated with a Master's degree in Counseling and then pursued doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology and Family Therapy. More than that, he has supervised and coached psychotherapists and executive coaches--but only those who hated "psychobabble" and instead, craved achieving measurable results with their clients.
The combination of his business experience and his understanding of human behavior and organizational dynamics is what makes him so valuable to his clients. His presentations and coaching are always pragmatic and immediately useful.
Keynotes And Coaching Are Not Therapy: Why Therapy Has No Place In The Corporate Environment...
Alan's professional training in human behavior means that he clearly understands the difference between coaching and therapy. Most executive coaches lack the credentials and professional training to clearly understand this critical difference... and this can turn into a disaster.
Alan's credentials and vast experience are the "insurance" that prevents such a disaster.
The Distinction Between What Is Wanted And What Is Needed...
If an executive asks Alan about delivering a keynote, he is going to ask what he or she wants the keynote to do--what are the objectives? Maybe a keynote is not appropriate and would simply be a waste of everyone's time and money! In Alan's mind, the outcome is primary, and the way to achieve the outcome is secondary.
If You Ask Alan If He Can Help You Or Your Company, He's Likely To Say...
"I don't know. Tell me what your challenges and key objectives are, answer a few pertinent questions and then I'll tell you if I can help you."
